Christmas Kettle Coordinator

Description:

The Salvation Army in Canada is seeking a Christmas Kettle Coordinator to manage and oversee the Christmas Kettle Campaign in the Nelson, BC area. This short-term contract role is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of multiple kettle locations in shopping malls, grocery stores, and retail outlets. The coordinator will supervise campaign workers and ensure adequate staffing, logistics, and security of donations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Attend training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign.

• Support the deployment of kettles to zone locations and secure donations after each shift.

• Supervise, support, and assign duties to Christmas Kettle Campaign workers and volunteers.

• Communicate issues and supply needs to supervisors.

• Maintain accurate timesheets and mileage reports weekly.

• Respond to donor inquiries regarding TSA programs and ministries.

• Coordinate the recruitment, orientation, and performance management of kettle staff/volunteers.

• Schedule staff/volunteers and address emergency absences.

• Oversee the collection and security of donations and petty cash.

• Foster positive relationships with kettle site personnel.

• Participate in post-campaign retrieval of equipment and supplies.

Qualifications and Skills:

• High school coursework completed; high school diploma is an asset.

• Minimum 1 year of related or customer service experience.

• Experience with money handling and office administration is preferred.

• Proficiency in Word, Excel, and general office equipment.

• Valid driver’s license, personal vehicle, and insurance required.

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

• Ability to multi-task, problem-solve, and work in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to lift/move 20–25 lbs.

• Honest, punctual, professional, and able to maintain confidentiality.

• Commitment to understanding and supporting TSA’s mission and values.

• Willingness to undergo background checks and screening as required.

Compensation and Work Conditions:

• Hourly rate: CA$17.85–CA$20.43 (up to CA$24.52 maximum depending on experience).

• Temporary, full-time position with flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and split shifts.

• Work environment includes malls and retail locations with periods of standing and exposure to cold weather.
