Description:
The Child Development Institute (CDI), a leading provider of specialized mental health services for children and youth, is hiring a Childcare Consultant on a contract basis to provide consultation services within the Toronto Children’s Services Every Child Belongs framework. This role aims to support licensed childcare centres that care for children under 12 who require extra support, promoting inclusion through tailored strategies and collaboration.
As a Childcare Consultant, you will manage a caseload of approximately 25 children and work closely with childcare centre staff and families to build individualized goals and accommodation plans. The consultant will conduct observational visits, monitor progress, offer training, make referrals, and support the development of inclusive environments in early learning settings.
This contract ends on January 31, 2026, with a possibility of extension. The role requires onsite work at childcare centres across midtown Toronto and is ideally suited for a passionate early childhood professional who values equity, community inclusion, and developmental support.
Consultation and Child Support:
Observe and assess individual children using screening tools and consultations
Develop individualized goal plans and coordinate support services
Monitor and document child progress, making recommendations as needed
Collaboration:
Work closely with childcare staff, parents, guardians, and CDI colleagues
Provide resources and professional development for centre staff
Participate in community committees and networks to support inclusive practices
Training and Engagement:
Lead workshops and provide strategic guidance to childcare professionals
Engage families with diverse communication approaches and connect them to external resources
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and confidential case files and reports
Keep detailed records of consultations, follow-ups, and progress evaluations
