Chief Accounting Officer

E.sun Financial Holding Co., Ltd is seeking a seasoned Chief Accounting Officer to join its North York branch on a full-time, on-site basis. This role is critical to the financial leadership of the organization, encompassing oversight of daily accounting functions, regulatory reporting, compliance, and team development. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the branch’s strategic goals through sound accounting practices, regulatory adherence, and process improvement.

This senior role demands a proactive, detail-oriented individual with strong leadership abilities and an in-depth understanding of bank accounting operations, financial regulations, and reporting standards such as GAAP and IFRS. The Chief Accounting Officer will also act as a liaison with internal departments, external CPAs, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth financial operations and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting Operations:

• Oversee daily journal entries, ledger activities, and bank settlements.

• Manage month-end closing and year-end financial statement preparation.

• Ensure timely and accurate financial reports for Head Office and other stakeholders.

• Reconcile accounts and maintain accuracy for strategic decision-making.

• Supervise account lifecycle processes (opening, maintenance, closing).

• Lead system-related initiatives including UAT testing, system upgrades, and accounting policy updates.

Financial & Regulatory Reporting:

• Coordinate with Head Office, internal teams, and external CPAs to ensure accurate financial statements.

• Prepare and submit regulatory filings for OSFI, Bank of Canada, and Statistics Canada.

• Manage tax documentation including federal, provincial, FATCA, CRS, N1, and TR4.

• Monitor financial activities for fraud or anomalies and ensure compliance with regulatory ratios.

Compliance & Regulatory Oversight:

• Develop and uphold accounting policies in alignment with IFRS, local tax regulations, and banking standards.

• Serve as the primary contact for external audits and regulatory examinations.

• Monitor risk and ensure full regulatory compliance across all accounting functions.

Process Optimization & System Enhancement:

• Identify improvement opportunities in accounting systems and workflows.

• Resolve system issues and collaborate with vendors and Head Office for implementation.

• Participate actively in accounting software setup, upgrades, and testing.

Leadership & Development:

• Lead and mentor the accounting team, ensuring clear goals and accountability.

• Conduct performance evaluations and provide technical and regulatory training.

• Support management with detailed financial analyses and variance reports.

• Contribute to succession planning and long-term development of team members.

• Perform additional duties as needed to enhance operational efficiency.

Candidate Requirements:

• Language Proficiency: Fluent in English and Mandarin.

• Experience: 8–10 years in accounting, including 3–5 years in bank accounting.

• Certifications: CPA designation preferred.

• Technical Skills: Proficient in GAAP, IFRS, and Microsoft Excel.

• Knowledge Base: Solid understanding of banking operations, products, services, and compliance regulations.

• Reporting Skills: Experience in financial statement preparation, tax computation, and regulatory filings.

• Attributes: Strong attention to detail, solution-oriented, and proactive in approach.
