The Salvation Army in Canada, with over 130 years of service across Canada and Bermuda, is seeking a Chaplain to provide spiritual care and pastoral support at Kate Booth House and Esther’s Place in Vancouver, BC. The role focuses on creating a compassionate, safe, and faith-based environment for women and their children at risk of violence, supporting their spiritual, emotional, and physical wellness.

The Chaplain will lead chaplaincy services, conduct spiritual care intakes, provide one-on-one and group spiritual counselling, organize workshops on spirituality and mental health, conduct chapel services, and offer pastoral care for residents and staff. The role also involves developing and implementing spiritual care programs, maintaining community connections with multi-faith groups and local churches, and supporting staff with spiritual and emotional needs.

As part of the leadership team, the Chaplain will contribute to strategic planning, facilitate spiritual care-focused training and meetings, provide crisis intervention when required, and assist with operational needs during staff shortages.

Key skills include strong interpersonal and communication abilities, knowledge of trauma-informed care, understanding of multi-faith practices, leadership qualities, and a compassionate approach to diverse spiritual needs. A valid BC driver’s license, First Aid/CPR certification, and Criminal Record Check for working with vulnerable adults/children are preferred.
