Cardiovascular Surgeon

The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), one of the world’s most prestigious pediatric healthcare institutions, is seeking a Cardiovascular Surgeon for a full-time permanent faculty position within its Division of Cardiovascular Surgery. This division, internationally acclaimed for congenital heart surgery, forms part of the Labatt Family Heart Centre which includes cardiology, cardiac anesthesia, cardiac critical care, and cardiovascular research.

The successful candidate will perform operative and perioperative cardiovascular procedures and be a key contributor in clinical care, education, and research. A high emphasis is placed on pediatric and congenital heart surgery, ACHD, mechanical circulatory support, and minimally invasive surgery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive cardiovascular surgical services, primarily focusing on congenital and pediatric conditions.

• Provide full-time clinical service including surgeries and patient care.

• Contribute to academic research and publication within cardiovascular fields.

• Participate in educational efforts and the training of fellows, residents, and students.

• Work within a highly collaborative interdisciplinary team and promote excellence in surgical outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications:

• M.D. or equivalent medical degree.

• Certification or eligibility for certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or an equivalent international board.

• Eligibility for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

• Strong academic record and demonstrable excellence in research and teaching.

• Leadership and communication skills suited to a high-performing, diverse environment.

• Expertise or interest in adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) and/or minimally invasive congenital heart procedures is an asset.
