Description:

IPEX by Aliaxis, one of North America’s leading providers of advanced plastic piping systems, is seeking a Buyer – Indirect (Fixed Term) for its Langley, BC Plant. The company is dedicated to connecting people with water and energy solutions while driving innovation and sustainability. This position is a 12-month fixed-term contract role, reporting directly to the Purchasing Lead.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the procurement of indirect goods and services necessary to support the plant’s daily operations. This includes working closely with internal teams and suppliers to optimize productivity, achieve cost savings, and ensure supply chain efficiency. The role requires a proactive and strategic approach to purchasing, supplier management, and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Handle purchasing of all indirect goods and services needed to support plant operations, including industrial, safety, janitorial supplies, and other service-based procurements.

• Lead supplier selection, evaluation, and rationalization efforts to maintain a strong and reliable vendor network.

• Negotiate contracts, pricing, and supply agreements while fostering long-term supplier relationships.

• Collaborate with the Strategic Sourcing team to execute cost-reduction initiatives and improve facility budget efficiency.

• Implement standardized purchasing practices and ensure compliance with company policies and objectives.

• Manage inventory through Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) and Min-Max processes to maintain optimal stock levels for uninterrupted operations.

• Contribute to process improvement initiatives such as 5S and Lean Manufacturing to drive operational excellence.

• Ensure alignment of site purchases across facilities to enhance efficiency and consistency.

Qualifications and Skills:

• 2–3 years of hands-on experience in purchasing or procurement.

• Background in manufacturing or industrial environments is strongly preferred.

• SCMP (Supply Chain Management Professional) or CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) accreditation is an asset.

• Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities, capable of collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

• Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (intermediate to advanced level).

• Proven ability to manage supplier relationships and negotiate effectively.

• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and results-driven professional.
