Business Systems Analyst

 

Description:

Reporting to the Director of Experiential Learning and Career Development, the Business Systems Analyst will be the main administrator of the Orbis Outcome Plus experiential learning platform (Experience MTA) at Mount Allison University. They will work closely with the staff from the Office of Experiential Learning & Career Development to make the platform a useful tool and provide suggestions on program tracking and user adoption. They will support the office by redesigning existing business processes to work with the new system, developing training content for our users, and implement and test new features. They will develop and deliver training for all users of the platform, including the administrative offices, faculty members, students, and external partners, and encourage adoption of the platform.

An outcome of this position is to collect data and produce reports that can guide decision-making for future programming at the Office and the institution. The Business Systems Analyst will also be responsible for providing strategic advice on digital transformation projects that enhance and support the university’s goals and objectives. They will be a key resource through the digital transformation process by providing training and support to personnel as well as encouraging the adoption of new business process and information governance policies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, guide, and execute the continued implementation and enhancement of the Outcome Plus platform.
  • Implement and maintain new modules and features into the platform that meet the Office’s needs. This can include program tracking, badges, experiential learning record, or other modules as required.
  • Work with the Registrar’s Office, Computing Services, and other relevant offices to integrate institutional data into the platform.
  • Use of strong communication skills and tact to gain cooperation and agreement of adoption of new platforms, systems, and processes.
  • Develop effective processes for data collection, reporting, analysis, and measurement, to help with assessment of programs at the Office.
  • Onboard and help continuously grow the number of users accessing the platform, including students, staff, faculty, and employers.
  • Train staff members at the Office on how to use relevant modules and features of the platform, and prepare a knowledge base that can be used for training.
  • Research and gather data about other institutions’ experiential learning offerings and systems to track those, and provide recommendations to guide future decisions.
  • Collaborate with other New Brunswick post-secondary institutions to help achieve the objective of using the platform to gather and report on similar data.
  • Provide strategic advice and direction to various offices on the adoption and implementation of new transformational technologies
  • Conduct process and information needs analyses by interviewing stakeholders and analyzing current technologies.
  • May be required to train and supervise student staff.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications/skills

  • A degree in business administration, computer science, information studies or systems, information technology, or relevant areas.
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in relevant areas
  • Experience managing digital transformation initiatives, including enterprise content management solutions and business process automations
  • Experience with user experience & user interface design and implementation
  • Possession of foundational ITS knowledge and ability to liaise with IT subject matter experts
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required
  • Attention to detail, and an ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with information architecture, knowledge management, user-centered design and iterative design methodologies
  • Knowledge of business process modelling and notation (BPMN)
  • Practical experience in web development
  • Experience in data analysis and report preparation
  • Knowledge of the Outcome Plus software
  • Knowledge of research methods
