Description:

CSA Group, a global leader in product testing, inspection, and certification with over a century of expertise, is seeking a Business Manager – Appliances (m/w/d) to lead the global strategy, development, and implementation of its Home & Commercial Appliance market segment. Headquartered in Canada, CSA Group operates more than 30 labs and offices worldwide, supporting safety, performance, and sustainability standards across industries.

The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the appliance sector’s future, identifying new business opportunities, defining competitive strategies, and driving CSA Group’s leadership in certification and safety standards. This role requires a strong ability to gather, interpret, and apply market intelligence and competitive data while influencing global and regional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the global appliance business strategy in alignment with commercial and regional leaders

  • Provide direction on appliance program development and create supporting technical guidance documents and standards

  • Conduct in-depth market and competitive analysis to identify new opportunities, risks, and ROI-driven initiatives

  • Develop and execute strategies for competitive positioning, pricing, and customer-centric services

  • Represent CSA Group in critical industry and regulatory events, building strong relationships with customers and trade associations

  • Support global strategic account management in partnership with regional leaders

  • Collaborate in hiring and developing operational staff to ensure customer-centric service delivery and profitability

  • Influence internal culture and processes through business acumen and leadership skills, even without direct line authority

  • Balance multiple stakeholders, manage competing priorities, and drive alignment across a matrix structure

Education & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, IT, MIS, or equivalent field

  • Strong project management experience, including deployment of business initiatives

  • Minimum 4 years of strategic leadership in product management or technology-focused roles

  • Proven ability to analyze complex data and present actionable solutions

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, make informed decisions, and build effective networks

  • Experience working in an international or matrix organizational structure is an asset
