Business Development Officer

Description:

We are looking for a mid-career Business Development Officer (BDO) to support our Construction Research Centre. The BDO would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

The Business Development Officer (BDO) supports the business and strategic partnership goals of the NRC by developing and implementing stakeholder engagement strategies to meet the objectives of their Research Centre (RC). The BDO provides strategic business-related guidance, stakeholder engagement expertise, and sales & marketing advice. The BDO leads complex agreement negotiations and intellectual property commercialization outreach and licensing. This position catalyzes business objectives and strategic plans, increasing and strengthening the NRC value proposition and stakeholder relationships, and helps to devise new business approaches.

The BDO supports the RC Management Team, often leading contacts with high-level stakeholders in industry, government and academia. The BDO has an understanding of the capabilities of the NRC’s various programs, research centres and divisions, the Government of Canada and Canada’s R&D ecosystems; and an up-to-date, sharp insight of stakeholder priorities in relevant technology domains.

The BDO works with researchers in the research center to establish collaborative relationships and projects with key stakeholders in industry, academia and government and to achieve targeted growth in new opportunities to provide technical and/or research services to clients and collaborations with clients. To assist with the development of these projects and the required agreements, the BDO works with the RC Project Management Office (RC PMO), the National Programs and Business Services branch, the Contracts Advisory Services (CSA), the IP Support Team and the Technical Business Analyst Team.

This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate interested in working within a fast-paced business environment at Canada’s leading research and technology organization.
