Solus Trust Company (STC), an affiliate of Raymond James Ltd. (RJL), is seeking a Vice President of Business Development, Estate & Trust Services to play a pivotal role in expanding the firm’s trust business across Canada. Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a National Sales and Strategy leadership position responsible for driving growth outside RJL’s internal channels, particularly through Centers of Influence (COIs) and external financial institutions.

The VP will be tasked with developing and executing strategic business plans, building and managing strong external partnerships, and enhancing awareness of Solus Trust’s services. This includes leading the national COI rollout strategy, engaging high-net-worth clients, onboarding new business in compliance with firm standards, and collaborating with estate and trust solutions teams to ensure consistent excellence in client service delivery.

The role requires deep technical expertise in estate and trust laws, administration practices, and wealth planning strategies, including taxation, philanthropy, and insurance. The successful candidate will also lead presentations, seminars, client events, and webinars to expand STC’s visibility and strengthen its reputation in the market. In addition, the VP will play a critical role in risk management, liaising with legal, compliance, and operations teams to ensure smooth onboarding of new clients, and will regularly present growth reports to senior management and the Board of Directors.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Business Management or a related field.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the Trust Services industry with advanced knowledge of estate and trust legislation.

  • STEP or MTI designation considered an asset.

  • Proven track record in business development and trust services sales.

  • Strong knowledge of wealth planning strategies (insurance, taxation, philanthropy).

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to lead national strategies and work effectively across diverse teams.

  • Willingness to travel extensively across Canada.
