Business, Data & Strategy Intern

Description:

Business, Data & Strategy Intern (Biotech Startup)

Job Type: Full-time

Term: May–August 2026

VascuBio Innovation Inc. is seeking a Strategy, Data & AI Intern to help turn cutting-edge biotech into scalable, data-driven products. We build next-generation bioreactor platforms for growing human vascularized tissues used in drug discovery, disease modeling, and biomarker research.

This role sits at the intersection of biotechnology, business strategy, and data and AI. You will work closely with the founding team to understand customers, analyze biological and market data, explore AI- and machine-learning–enabled workflows, and help shape how complex science translates into real-world value.

This is not a purely academic or observational role. You will contribute directly to strategy, analysis, and positioning decisions in a fast-moving biotech startup where your work and ideas matter.

You will also gain exposure to an active innovation project focused on biomarker-driven insights and data-informed approaches to brain health and neurological research, supporting strategy and analysis activities tied to real-world health impact.

What you’ll do

  • Conduct market and competitive research across biotech, pharma, AI-enabled drug discovery, and research tools
  • Support customer discovery and synthesize insights from scientific, clinical, and commercial stakeholders
  • Assist in developing pitch decks, one-pagers, and data-backed narratives for investors and partners
  • Work with internal datasets (e.g., biomarkers, experimental outcomes, usage metrics) to extract insights and trends
  • Support basic data analysis and visualization to inform strategy and decision-making
  • Explore and apply AI and machine learning tools to support analysis, positioning, and internal workflows
  • Collaborate with technical team members to understand how biological data translates into customer value
  • Support grant research, accelerator applications, and partnership outreach
  • Participate in strategy discussions, product planning, and founder meetings

Required qualifications

  • Undergraduate student in Management Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, Science and Business, Health Sciences, Life Sciences, or a related field
  • Strong interest in startups, biotech, data, and AI-enabled products
  • Comfortable working with data, ambiguity, and complex ideas
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Organized, proactive, and able to work independently
  • Curious mindset and willingness to learn across disciplines
  • Fluency in English is required; French is an asset
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

Nice to have (not required)

  • Experience with data analysis, visualization, or basic machine learning concepts
  • Experience with, or strong interest in, customer discovery and early-stage marketing campaigns, including website and landing page design
  • Familiarity with Python, R, SQL, or analytical tools such as pandas, Excel, or Tableau
  • Exposure to biomarkers, biological datasets, or healthcare data
  • Experience using AI tools in coursework or projects
  • Interest in venture capital, product strategy, or deep-tech startups

What you can look forward to

  • Working closely with founders on real strategy and data problems
  • Hands-on exposure to applied AI and biomarker-driven biotech innovation
  • Ownership of meaningful work with visible impact in a growing startup
  • Opportunities for learning across product, strategy, and technology
