Business Analyst

 

Description:

Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP) is seeking a highly analytical and motivated Business Analyst to join the Total Fund Reporting team for an 18-month contract or acting assignment. This role focuses on supporting fund governance through the enhancement of reporting applications that track the Fund’s Asset Mix, Exposures, Liquidity, Counterparty Risk, and Margin Requirements.

As a Business Analyst, you will be instrumental in understanding business needs, defining requirements, documenting workflows, and facilitating agreement among stakeholders to ensure the delivery of efficient, high-quality reporting solutions. You’ll work closely with a diverse set of teams to drive initiatives that improve financial reporting and total fund governance processes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Requirement Gathering: Engage business partners to understand objectives, elicit detailed requirements, and ensure alignment between business needs and delivered solutions.

  • Documentation & Analysis: Develop comprehensive business documentation including functional/non-functional requirements, process maps, and solution specifications.

  • Data Management: Document data flow and transformation between enterprise and total fund data repositories.

  • Solution Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to propose, evaluate, and select functional solutions that deliver tangible business value.

  • Testing & Validation: Lead and manage user acceptance testing (UAT), ensuring traceability of requirements and alignment with quality standards.

  • Project Participation: Contribute to project initiation, scope definition, and estimation of business analysis work.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Engineering, Project Management, QA, and external vendors to ensure successful delivery of initiatives.

  • Coaching & Mentorship: Support junior analysts and contribute to improving team methodologies and processes.


Candidate Profile:

  • Education: University degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.

  • Certifications (Assets): CFA, FRM, MBA, or Process Improvement Methodology Accreditation.

  • Experience:

    • 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or related role.

    • Deep understanding of investment products such as derivatives, exchange-traded products, and private investments.

    • Knowledge of trade life cycle, performance measurement, and risk management processes.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Strong command of SQL or similar query languages.

    • Experience with PL/SQL, Snowflake, Power BI, Power Apps, Python, Bloomberg Terminal, MS Excel (Power Pivot), MS Visio, Confluence, and JIRA.

  • Soft Skills:

    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.

    • Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.

    • Proactive mindset with a focus on delivering client value.

    • Ability to collaborate effectively in agile and waterfall environments.

    • Commitment to continuous learning and adopting new tools and technologies, including AI-based analytics and automation.
