Business Advisor

 

Description:

The Société de développement économique de la Colombie-Britannique (SDÉCB) is seeking a Business Advisor to support existing and aspiring Francophone entrepreneurs in Kelowna, BC. The selected candidate will act as a key facilitator, connecting entrepreneurs with governmental and other resources to support the launch and growth of their business ventures.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Consulting:

  • Conduct outreach to businesses and support promoters in launching, growing, expanding, or retaining their ventures.

  • Welcome entrepreneurs, assess their needs, and offer consulting for planning and business development.

  • Provide guidance on starting businesses and navigating market opportunities and economic trends.

  • Review and evaluate business development projects and plans, advising on regulations, incorporation, municipal permits, patents, environmental concerns, and import/export procedures.

  • Conduct specific research for SDÉCB's entrepreneur clients as needed.

Networking and Representation:

  • Build strategic partnerships with resource organizations for entrepreneurs.

  • Maintain a strong network of contacts and connect clients with relevant stakeholders.

  • Represent SDÉCB and Francophone entrepreneurs in economic development circles and business associations.

  • Organize or participate in events involving entrepreneurs, business groups, community organizations, and government bodies.

Project Coordination and Services:

  • Develop or participate in projects that foster economic development.

  • Offer tailored services for the client base, such as training sessions, business partnership support, networking, and mentorship programs.

Reporting and Support:

  • Prepare regular reports detailing achievements and their impact in the designated region.

  • Support initiatives from SDÉCB’s head office locally.

Required Profile:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, management, or a relevant field (equivalent experience considered).

  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience.

  • Solid understanding of business functions (planning, marketing, finance, HR, sales, procurement).

  • Knowledge of sustainable business practices is an asset.

  • Fully bilingual (French and English, spoken and written).

  • Technologically proficient and familiar with Office 365 and digital tools for SMEs.

  • Self-starter with strong multitasking and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Team-oriented and able to work collaboratively with internal and external partners.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

  • Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Employment Type:
Full-time (35 hours/week)
Start Date: As soon as possible
Compensation: CAD 74000–80000 per year (CAD 6166–6666 per month), depending on experience, with benefits
