IN Engineering + Planning is a rapidly growing multi-disciplinary professional firm based in Brockville, Ontario, offering integrated services in Design, Planning, Engineering, and Construction. The firm provides comprehensive consulting solutions for residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional construction and development projects across Eastern Ontario, including Kingston, Ottawa, Cornwall, Perth, Smiths Falls, and Kemptville.

They are seeking an experienced Building Designer (BCIN) who can take ownership of architectural design work, produce detailed plans for a variety of construction types, and collaborate closely with internal teams and clients. Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce architectural plans for residential and commercial construction projects that align with client requirements and building standards.

  • Collaborate effectively with engineering, design, and planning teams to ensure seamless project integration.

  • Work directly with clients and contractors to achieve desired design outcomes.

  • Utilize SketchUp to produce accurate 3D models and comprehensive drawing packages.

  • Prepare permit drawing packages in compliance with Ontario Building Code (OBC) Part 9.

  • Participate in project coordination meetings and contribute to design solutions.

  • Apply technical drafting skills using AutoCAD to generate professional construction documents.

  • Support project delivery with an emphasis on design quality, technical precision, and regulatory compliance.


Minimum Requirements:

  • BCIN Qualification in Legal, Small Buildings, and Structures (mandatory).

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an architectural or building designer.

  • Diploma in Engineering Technology (2-year program) or related field.

  • Demonstrated experience preparing permit and construction drawing packages.

  • Proficiency in 3D Modelling & BIM tools, particularly SketchUp and Layout.

  • Strong technical drawing skills using AutoCAD.

  • Valid Class G Ontario Driver’s License.

  • Ability to work on-site at the Brockville office initially.

  • Keen interest in construction, design, and engineering disciplines.


Preferred Skills & Assets:

  • Familiarity with Ontario Building Code (OBC) standards and building permit processes.

  • Excellent spatial visualization and 3D modeling skills.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
