Description:

The College of the North Atlantic (CNA) is seeking a dedicated Organizational Budget Analyst to support the financial planning, management, and operational efficiency of its campuses across Newfoundland and Labrador. This hybrid role allows for flexibility in work arrangements, while maintaining the expectation of on-site presence when required. The successful candidate will play a vital role in preparing financial forecasts, ensuring compliance with policies, and supporting campus managers with financial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support day-to-day financial planning and analysis to ensure effective use of budgets.

  • Prepare biweekly salary forecasts and monthly financial updates for assigned campuses.

  • Review financial data to identify risks, trends, and key insights for better decision-making.

  • Handle a range of financial transactions (requisitions, payment requests, travel claims, invoices) while ensuring accuracy and compliance with College policies.

  • Review weekly campus activity reports to detect issues early and guide planning.

  • Provide financial insights and contribute to budget development and year-end projections.

  • Serve as a resource for campus managers by answering queries, explaining financial processes, and ensuring adherence to financial guidelines.

  • Collaborate with various departments to solve financial issues, improve processes, and enhance efficiency.

  • Assist with the creation and monitoring of annual budgets and long-term financial plans.

  • Contribute ideas for improving financial reporting and planning practices.

  • Travel within the province may be required occasionally to provide on-site support.

Screening Criteria:

  • Diploma in Business Administration (Accounting focus) or an equivalent qualification.

  • Experience working in an accounting environment.

  • Budgeting experience is considered an asset.

Assessment Criteria:

  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and budgeting practices.

  • Proficiency with accounting and spreadsheet software.

  • Strong analytical, time management, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and professionalism.

  • Verification of credentials, licenses, certifications, or memberships as required.

Conditions of Acceptance:

  • CNA supports flexible work arrangements, including hybrid, remote, or ad-hoc options, but all employees are expected to report to their assigned campus as needed.

  • Preference is given to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or individuals legally entitled to work in Canada.
