Overview
An established, full-service investment dealer with national reach is seeking an experienced Branch Manager to lead its flagship Toronto office. The firm operates as a self-clearing independent, offering wealth management, investment banking, and institutional trading services across Canada.
This role is ideal for a seasoned Investment Advisor or producing Branch Manager who combines a credible book of business with the relationship depth, industry awareness, and leadership maturity to recruit, mentor, and grow a team of experienced advisors. The position balances entrepreneurial independence with the stability of an employee-owned firm known for its long-term growth and collaborative culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruiting & Growth:
- Drive branch expansion through strategic recruitment of high-performing advisors and portfolio managers aligned with the firm’s independent culture.
- Leadership & Culture:
- Lead by influence—fostering collaboration, professionalism, and a client-first mindset among a group of experienced and autonomous advisors.
- Branch Operations:
- Oversee day-to-day branch activity including team structure, assistant allocation, facilities coordination, and advisor support resources.
- Advisor Development:
- Serve as a trusted partner to advisors, helping them enhance productivity, succession readiness, and client engagement.
- Strategic Partnership:
- Work closely with senior leadership to shape branch strategy, recruitment plans, and long-term succession initiatives.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in wealth management as an Investment Advisor, Portfolio Manager, or Branch Manager within an IIROC-licensed firm.
- Proven credibility and production history with a significant book of business and respected industry presence.
- Extensive recruiting network and strong relationships across the Canadian independent dealer community.
- Entrepreneurial, hands-on leadership style suited to managing independent professionals.
- Deep understanding of IIROC compliance and branch operations (experience in a self-clearing environment is advantageous).
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
