Description:
Wolastoqey Tribal Council Inc. (WTCI) is currently seeking a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to join its Education team in a full-time hybrid position located in Fredericton, New Brunswick. This is a 1-year contract role with the potential for renewal and offers an excellent opportunity for professionals with strong analytical, clinical, and cultural competencies to serve Indigenous children, youth, and families across Wolastoqey communities.
The BCBA will work in a trauma-informed, interdisciplinary team to deliver behavior analysis services to those impacted by developmental and behavioral challenges or neurodiverse diagnoses. This position emphasizes culturally sensitive, community-based care that respects Indigenous traditions, values, and practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct functional behavior assessments and design customized intervention plans.
Deliver evidence-based services with cultural awareness and respect for Indigenous values.
Collaborate with caregivers, educators, health professionals, and interdisciplinary teams in varied settings.
Train caregivers, support staff, and educators on behavior intervention strategies.
Monitor, assess, and revise behavior plans for effective, sustainable outcomes.
Advocate for behavioral health services aligned with the needs of Wolastoqey families.
Maintain accurate documentation and prepare necessary reports.
Participate in cultural competency and trauma-informed training sessions.
Support organizational initiatives and community engagement as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, or a related field.
BCBA certification in good standing (or near completion).
Experience working with Indigenous populations and supporting neurodiverse youth.
Familiarity with Wolastoqey culture or strong willingness to learn and engage respectfully.
Strong skills in assessment, planning, and implementation of behavior programs.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation abilities.
Valid driver’s license, vehicle, and insurance.
Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
Completed Policy 701 training.
Preferred Assets:
First Aid & CPR certification.
Wolastoqey and/or French language proficiency.
Experience working directly in Indigenous communities.
Training in trauma-informed care and understanding of colonial and intergenerational trauma impacts.
Additional Notes:
Travel to schools and community locations within the region is required.
Flexible working hours may be needed for community events and meetings.
Individuals currently holding political office are ineligible.
