The Biomedical Engineering Technology program within BCIT’s School of Health Sciences is seeking a temporary, part-time faculty member (0.5 FTE) to teach both in classroom and laboratory settings.
The Biomedical Engineering Technology program has a longstanding history, graduating technologists for the healthcare and medical device industry since 1969.
Design, develop, and deliver curriculum including lectures and laboratory sessions.
Instruct and evaluate students in various teaching and learning activities.
Prepare supplementary course materials such as course outlines, schedules, and learning guides.
Research and procure educational technology or equipment to support learning outcomes.
Liaise with industry partners to align curriculum with industry needs and enhance teaching quality.
Inspire and lead students with passion, excellence, and enthusiasm.
Perform other administrative duties as needed, including student admissions, accreditation, program review, and committee work.
Degree in Biomedical Engineering or related discipline with relevant experience.
Experience in electronics, microcontroller and computer programming.
Preferred experience in medical device development and medical imaging technologies.
Teaching experience required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
Registered professional engineer designation preferred.
Related Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum 3 years recent full-time or equivalent experience in Biomedical Engineering or related field.
Theoretical knowledge and technical skills in biomedical electronics.
Demonstrable teaching, training, or mentoring skills.
Experience in developing educational tools, standards, or practices.
