This is a hybrid position with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.

Why This Role Is Important

Reporting to the project’s technical manager, you’ll join the Digital Media team where a major initiative is underway to modernize Radio-Canada’s digital ecosystem and make it more resilient in an evolving media environment. This work will be carried out in close co-operation with various departments and will help shape the public broadcaster’s future.

Working closely with product managers, the architect and the technical manager, you’ll ensure the smooth development of the product within your area of expertise. You’ll also co-ordinate the technical efforts required to deliver new features, while adhering to the norms, standards and practices set by the development management team, such as creating automated tests and documentation.

How You Will Make An Impact
 

  • Designing and/or modifying reusable components for Radio-Canada’s digital platforms.
  • Designing and/or modifying presentation APIs in conjunction with back-end specialists.
  • Ensuring compliance with standards and monitoring product quality throughout the project.
  • Keeping up with the latest trends in the various digital development fields.
  • Being proactive and suggesting solutions to challenges that arise.
  • Participating in Agile Scrum activities in order to review progress on projects in production and make the necessary corrections/adjustments, or to gauge the results of completed projects.
  • Ensuring that internally developed applications perform well and can meet high demand.
  • Participating in sprint planning, retros and application deployments.
  • Helping review and deploy code for the solution.
     

What You Bring
 

  • University or college degree/diploma, or equivalent experience.
  • Three or more years’ relevant experience.
  • Proficient with NodeJS.
  • Proficiency with MongoDB/Redis.
  • Proficiency with TypeScript/JavaScript.
  • Thorough understanding of REST API and GraphQL (Apollo) principles.
  • Server optimization and monitoring experience.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and Azure Cloud an asset.
  • Experience developing complex, high-performance web apps.
  • Experience with an Agile methodology.
  • Good general knowledge and high degree of curiosity.
  • Ability to be thorough, self-reliant and resourceful.
  • Excellent stress management and prioritization skills.
  • Analytical and conceptual mind.
  • Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively.
  • Solid command of French.
  • Working knowledge of English (spoken and written) an asset.
