Diversified, a global leader in audio-visual and media innovation, is seeking an AV Design Engineer with expertise in Broadcast/Media technologies to join its virtual team supporting clients across Canada and the US. This is a remote, full-time opportunity for a passionate professional ready to lead and innovate in large-scale, immersive technical environments.
The Design Engineer (DE) will be responsible for driving the technical execution of projects across their lifecycle—from presales concept through to system commissioning and final documentation. Acting as a technical authority, the DE collaborates with senior engineers, operations leaders, and clients to design and implement cutting-edge audio-visual and broadcast solutions.
Design and develop complex AV/Broadcast systems and determine detailed technical requirements.
Create functional system descriptions, wiring diagrams, custom panels, and cabling assemblies.
Build and oversee bills of materials (BOM), installation packages, and engineering documentation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architects, clients, sales, and installation teams.
Conduct configuration, commissioning, testing, and support throughout deployment.
Track engineering progress and contribute to milestone reporting for resource planning.
Provide recommendations on equipment selection and scope direction.
Support presales efforts and lead product vetting during post-sales engineering.
Keep abreast of emerging trends, protocols, and tools in the AV and broadcast domain.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience).
Minimum 3 years of experience in AV/Broadcast systems design and integration.
Strong understanding of broadcast technology, video/audio formats (SDI, SMPTE 2110, AES-67, Dante).
Experience with TCP/IP networking, QoS, ACLs, VLANs, DNS, and multicast protocols (PIM, IGMP, DVMRP).
Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office 365; familiarity with tools like LucidChart, Smartsheet, and dashboard software.
Knowledge of project phases (Presales to Commissioning) and construction workflows.
Excellent documentation, presentation, and time-management skills.
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and customer communication abilities.
Experience in broadcast system orchestration, streaming media network protocols.
Familiarity with virtual compute and storage technologies.
Network topology design and security implementation.
Proven ability to translate technical insights into executive-level presentations.
Occasional travel (up to 30%), including use of personal vehicle.
Some on-site visits to construction locations requiring PPE.
Must hold a valid driver's license.
