Sun Life is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Audit Manager – Professional Practices to join its Internal Audit department at its Toronto office. This strategic role contributes directly to enhancing audit quality and effectiveness across global functions. Reporting to the Director of Internal Audit – Professional Practice, the Audit Manager will play a pivotal role in leading quality assurance programs, reporting to senior management, and driving process improvements aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

The Internal Audit team at Sun Life functions as an independent advisory body, committed to strengthening governance, risk management, and internal controls. Within this setup, the Professional Practices group is tasked with upholding the global audit framework through advanced audit methodologies, effective tools, training programs, and consolidated reporting practices.

As an Audit Manager in this group, you will lead efforts to standardize quality across global audit operations, regularly assess key performance indicators (KPIs), and compile insightful reports for the Audit Committee and senior leadership. You'll take ownership of Sun Life’s global Quality Assurance Program, ensuring adherence to internal standards and identifying continuous improvement opportunities through collaboration with professional bodies like the Institute of Internal Auditors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and enhance the global quality assurance program for Internal Audit

• Lead consolidated audit reporting including quarterly control updates and KPI tracking

• Stay up to date on best practices by engaging with external audit firms, regulators, and industry associations

• Support the implementation of innovative auditing techniques and digital transformation initiatives

• Build strong relationships with global internal audit teams and senior leadership

• Conduct targeted audit reviews and oversee corrective action planning

Key Requirements:

• Professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) required

• Extensive experience in internal audit with a strong focus on quality assurance

• Knowledge of audit standards, regulatory guidance, and enterprise risk management

• Strong communication and leadership skills to challenge and influence senior stakeholders

• Technological proficiency, especially in handling data and MS Office suite

• High ethical standards and strong conflict resolution, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
