Description:
The University of Alberta – Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine, Department of Occupational Therapy, is seeking a full-time Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor for its Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MScOT) satellite program at the Augustana Campus in Camrose, Alberta. This is an on-site, full-time academic teaching staff position, funded through the operating budget and currently available until June 30, 2027, with the potential for extension based on funding.
This role primarily involves teaching MScOT students in a distributed learning model and participating in applied instruction and integration activities at the satellite site. You will join a growing, collaborative, and student-centered teaching team supporting both foundational and advanced OT curriculum.
Deliver and support instruction in courses such as:
Occupational Therapy with Children, Youth, and Families (Occth571)
Productivity in Adulthood & Vocational Rehabilitation (Occth572)
Structural Inequity & Human Occupation (Occth507)
Research & Scholarly Practice (Occth566)
Program Evaluation (Occth568)
Integration & Application Courses (Occth530, 540, 550)
Mental Health Practice (Occth517)
Engage in in-person student support, mentorship, and teaching, including:
Facilitation of experiential labs and applied learning activities.
Contribution to curriculum delivery through Zoom and synchronous platforms.
Coordination with Edmonton-based lead instructors in a distributed model.
Participate in fieldwork supervision, particularly:
Independent Community Placements (ICPs) at non-traditional OT sites.
Support the development of clinical services in the Camrose region.
Serve on departmental or program-level committees and participate in academic development initiatives.
Foster an inclusive classroom environment by contributing to equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization efforts.
Must be registered with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists.
Must be available to work full-time on-site at the Augustana Campus (Monday–Friday).
Demonstrated ability to engage students in academic and experiential learning environments.
A PhD or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy or a related discipline is strongly preferred.
Candidates with a BScOT and extensive experience may also be considered.
At least 5 years of clinical practice experience in diverse settings (e.g., hospitals, schools, communities).
Experience with vulnerable and equity-deserving populations.
Prior teaching experience in higher education or clinical instruction.
Experience with fieldwork supervision is an asset.
