Description:

The Associate Director, Creative Services in University Advancement (UA) is a senior graphic designer and marketing/branding professional who brings keen expertise in branding and visual identity to help shape the look and feel of all of UA’s fundraising and alumni engagement initiatives and promotional materials. Under the supervision of the Managing Director of Communications, the Associate Director works closely with fundraisers as well as alumni and donor relations professionals in the central UA office and across Faculties to ensure that all print, online and multimedia materials are designed to achieve the University’s strategic and fundraising objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualizes, designs, and does layout, art direction and final execution — producing quality pieces (print and web-based) for fundraising and alumni-relations professionals.

  • Meets with clients to develop branding and design concepts for a wide range of print and web-based products, working closely with UA’s Director of Communications and other senior communications professionals.

  • Leads and actively participates in projects from concept development through to finished product. Provides layout and graphic design services for print products (brochures, newsletters, program books, etc.) as well as design layouts for web-based and multimedia applications.

  • Ensures that all designs are of a high-quality and consistent with branding guidelines established by UA and the University. Provides final approval for design of print and web-based products.

  • Manages outside vendors supporting print process, web development and photography.

  • Manages a team of two graphic designers.Provides guidance and professional expertise within area of responsibility to other team members.

Other Qualifying Skills And/Or Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience working in a web and digital environment.

  • Proficiency in graphic design software, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat and In Design.

  • A passion for clean and consistent designs and an interest in current design trends.

  • Exceptional attention to detail.

  • Great collaboration and communication skills.

  • Experience working in a high-pressure environment with the ability to juggle multiple tasks at various stages of production.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Self-motivated and a strong team player.

  • Fluent in English (spoken and written), French (spoken and read)
