Description:
Scouts Canada is seeking an Associate Director, Internal Communications to lead strategic internal communications that engage, inform, and connect adult volunteers across the country. This is a full-time, permanent remote role, reporting to the Director, Marketing & Communications.
The Associate Director will design multi-channel campaigns (email, webinars, video, events) tailored to volunteers’ needs, audit and streamline communication channels, and track performance metrics such as engagement, sentiment, and behavior change. The role is data-driven, focused on improving volunteer satisfaction, alignment, and operational efficiency.
Internal Communications:
Operationalize strategies to improve adult volunteer satisfaction via timely, segmented communications.
Design engaging, multi-channel content campaigns optimized by audience, channel, and timing.
Audit and streamline internal channels to reduce overload and improve clarity and trustworthiness.
Define and track KPIs (message open rates, webinar attendance, survey scores, volunteer behavior change) and continuously improve approaches.
Leadership:
Develop and grow staff performance, maintaining a positive team culture.
Strengthen partnerships between staff and National/Council-level volunteers.
Advise committees and provide evidence-based guidance.
Deputize for the Director during absences.
Evidence, Insights, and Reporting:
Collect, analyze, and share evidence of communication effectiveness.
Manage multiple projects, reporting progress against scope, timeline, and budget.
Finance and Revenue:
Manage and report on team and project budgets (<$1M).
Collaborate with fundraising, retail, and property teams to align communications with revenue goals.
Post-secondary degree or equivalent experience in marketing, communications, business, or related field.
Proven expertise in strategic internal communications, data-driven insights, change management, and program management.
Strong technical skills and ability to work with new tools and data.
Valid Canadian driver’s license or equivalent ability to travel.
Remote role with standard hours plus occasional evenings, weekends, and overnight travel.
PRC (Police Record Check) and VSS (Vulnerable Sector Check) required.
Mandatory training requirements.
