Description:
As program faculty survey their collective skills and aptitudes, they are actively searching for a colleague whose exceptional technical and teaching skills intersect with research and theory. This intersection of theory and practice is meant to support students with the critical thinking skills required in today’s rapidly evolving communication industries.
The candidate would be hired on the tenure-track Teaching and Service (TS) stream or the tenure-track Teaching, Scholarship and Service (TSS) stream. The TS stream typically means teaching about 8 courses per academic year while also fulfilling department, university, and sometimes external service roles. The TSS stream typically means teaching about 6 courses per academic year, while maintaining a research/scholarship agenda and fulfilling the aforementioned service roles.
Tenure-track candidates are evaluated over a five-year period, in which colleagues examine candidate teaching and service contributions, analyse yearly peer and chair evaluations, as well as candidate reflections on scholarly teaching and service.
On the work experience front, the candidate will have significant experience in current creative media industries. They will possess a demonstrable theory-informed critical approach to their practice that lends well to making sense of big technological shifts in broadcast media industries. On the teaching front, the candidate will be expected to mentor students in an active learning environment including working with clients and community partners. The candidate will be well-positioned to teach across the four years of the program, in courses such as advanced independent projects, media marketing and advertising, media entrepreneurship, and a cross-section of video and audio production courses.

Operation of professional-grade video and audio recording and editing equipment, microphones, and lighting

Experience with the film industry and production outlets would also be advantageous
