IN Engineering + Planning, a growing multi-disciplinary professional consulting firm based in Brockville, ON, is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Building Designer (BCIN Certified) to join their expanding team. The firm integrates Design, Planning, Engineering, and Construction services and works on a wide range of residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional projects across Eastern Ontario, including Kingston, Ottawa, Cornwall, Perth, Smiths Falls, and Kemptville.

This role is ideal for an experienced architectural designer who is passionate about construction, design innovation, and collaborative teamwork. The Building Designer will play a key role in producing architectural plans, coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams, and working directly with clients and contractors to deliver high-quality design solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce detailed architectural plans for residential and commercial construction projects.

  • Collaborate with engineering, design, and planning teams to coordinate multi-disciplinary project requirements.

  • Work directly with clients and contractors to ensure design expectations are met.

  • Develop 3D models and drawing packages using SketchUp.

  • Prepare and submit permit drawing packages in compliance with Ontario Building Code (OBC) Part 9.

  • Create technical drawings using AutoCAD and assist in project documentation.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BCIN Qualification in Legal, Small Buildings & Structures.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an architectural designer.

  • Strong experience preparing OBC Part 9 permit drawings.

  • Skilled in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Layout for technical drawings and 3D modelling.

  • Diploma in Engineering Technology (2-year program).

  • Class G Ontario Driver’s License.

  • Ability to work on-site at the Brockville office (initially required).

  • Strong interest in construction, engineering, and innovative design.
