CSA Group is a global standards organization with nearly 100 years of history, dedicated to making the world safer, more sustainable, and better for all. CSA develops over 3,500 standards, codes, and related products, while also providing testing, inspection, certification, and advisory services worldwide. The Director, Advisory Services role will lead CSA’s professional advisory services delivery to governments and key industry sectors, driving strategy, execution, and alignment with organizational priorities.
Develop the strategy for professional advisory services aligned with CSA’s standards research, development, education, and advocacy.
Lead execution of business plans and strategic initiatives for advisory services.
Engage directly with clients and conduct multi-stakeholder workshops to address emerging or complex standardization issues.
Advise organizations on the utilization of CSA standards to achieve public policy or business objectives.
Define value propositions for advisory services and register CSA as a supplier on government procurement sites.
Provide guidance to CSA Standards teams to support proposal development and client engagement.
Represent CSA at conferences, symposia, and industry forums to reinforce CSA’s value proposition.
Recruit, lead, coach, and motivate a high-performance team.
Build and maintain strong relationships with government and industry stakeholders.
Oversee management of advisory services activities, including budgets, timelines, headcount, and revenue objectives.
Identify growth opportunities in government and industry sectors.
Undergraduate or graduate degree in business, government, nonprofit, or consulting, or equivalent work experience.
10–15 years in professional services promotion and delivery, business development, strategic planning, project management, and budgeting.
5 years of leadership experience managing a team.
Knowledge of government public policy objectives at federal, provincial, and municipal levels.
Experience in industry and government funding programs.
Strong expertise in proposal writing, presentations, and professional communications.
Fluency in both French and English required for communication across multiple locations including Montreal and Ottawa.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
Strong facilitation, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
Ability to self-manage, influence others without direct authority, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Demonstrated initiative, discretion, and diplomacy.
