Brock University is seeking an Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Decolonization (EDID) Advisor for Research to provide operational leadership and strategic direction in advancing EDID initiatives within the University’s research enterprise. Reporting to the Associate Vice-President, Research, this role is instrumental in implementing Brock’s EDID Action Plan, ensuring compliance with evolving federal, provincial, and sponsor-related EDID requirements, and fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable research culture.

Key responsibilities include liaising with government and research sponsors regarding EDID policies, managing compliance and reporting, advising researchers and leadership on EDID considerations in research strategy and funding, and developing policies, training, and resources to guide EDID implementation across the University. The advisor will collaborate with senior administrators, research staff, and external partners to drive progress toward institutional EDID goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of EDID-related policies, strategies, and training initiatives for research.

  • Manage and communicate compliance requirements from external sponsors and legislative frameworks (e.g., Ontario Human Rights Code, AODA, Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms).

  • Provide guidance to researchers, Deans, and senior leadership on incorporating EDID in research planning and grant applications.

  • Liaise with external research sponsors and oversee reporting to maintain funding eligibility.

  • Deliver training to mitigate biases and promote equitable research practices.

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including equity-deserving groups.

  • Contribute to advancing the University’s research performance through inclusive and equitable practices.

Key Skills and Experience Required

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field (graduate degree preferred).

  • Strong understanding of EDID frameworks, legislation, and best practices in research.

  • Proven project management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Innovative and strategic mindset with ability to drive systemic change.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.

  • Experience with federal/provincial research funding programs is an asset.

  • Formal training/certification in EDID and curriculum development experience are assets.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary range: CAD 89,090–100,000 per annum (CAD 7,424–8,333 per month).
