Description:
The Administrative Officer plays a vital role in the successful administration and operation of the school. This position supports the day-to-day functions of the school, working closely with the Director, faculty, staff, and students to ensure the smooth delivery of academic programs, implementation of strategic initiatives, and stewardship of administrative processes. The Administrative Officer ensures consistency in the application of university policies and procedures, while supporting a responsive, inclusive, and respectful environment.
The Administrative Officer provides comprehensive operational and administrative leadership for the School of Public Administration. Reporting to the School Director and liaising with other staff and faculty, the Administrative Officer is responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of internal administrative services including human resources support, budget planning and monitoring, communications, scheduling, committee support, records management, and logistical coordination of school operations.
This position requires a high degree of autonomy, professionalism, confidentiality and cultural acumen. The Administrative Officer liaises with sessional instructors, students, and a range of internal and external parties across UVic to coordinate projects, respond to emerging administrative needs, and support academic programming. Maintaining our relationships with Indigenous and other local partners is critical. A deep understanding of the University's administrative systems and a commitment to inclusive and responsive service are essential to success in this role.

Job Requirements
This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to an undergraduate degree plus three years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
