Description:
The Administrative Assistant is the primary contact for Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry Clinic Patients and is responsible for responding to inquiries pertaining to the dental clinics via in person, over the phone and through email correspondence. The role processes and books patient appointments, and provides support to dental students regarding front desk administration.
Qualifications
Education:
- 1 year Community College Diploma in Dental Receptionist/Office Administration
- University degree is preferred
Experience:
- 2 years’ experience in a customer service position, including experience with outbound collection of accounts
- Experience in an academic, medical or dental setting is preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and confidence dealing with all levels of an organization
- Strong customer service skills to handle enquiries and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner
- Creative problem solving skills and sound professional judgment, especially regarding confidential/sensitive manners
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage activities both for self and others effectively
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Ability to establish and build healthy working relations and partnerships with clients, peers and external stakeholders

- Knowledge of general office procedures including developing/maintaining records management systems
- Understanding of privacy law and how it applies to medical records
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office (including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook) as well as spreadsheet design and database management
