What the day will look like

  • Prepare actuarial analyses supporting employee benefit plans
  • Produce analysis and negotiation of annual renewals
  • Produce analysis and cost projections following carrier marketings
  • Produce experience monitoring reports, including analysis of claim costs, trends and client relevant KPIs
  • Help draft client ready communication material following actuarial valuations, renewals, marketings, new plan implementations, redesigns or for union meeting purposes
  • Participate in flex plans pricing and design
  • Support ad-hoc financial requests, working with carriers and other business units to support client facing colleagues
  • Coordinate projects with other team members, other business units and carriers
  • Increase efficiency by contributing to the improvement of standardized processes
  • Participate in team projects and activities which drive innovation, improved client value and business results
  • Build strong working relationships with colleagues, other business units and client teams

How this opportunity is different

As an Analyst in our Actuarial and Analytics team, you will be supporting client teams in the servicing of clients with respect to the management of the financial risks of their benefit programs. Working with a team of analysts and senior team leaders you will be involved with a variety of client deliverables including but not limited to actuarial valuations, annual renewals, carrier marketings, experience reporting and analysis, budget preparation, review of financial statements, union negotiations, pricing and plan redesigns.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Up to (3) years of direct group benefits experience in consulting or underwriting environment is required;
  • Candidates who do not have industry experience but have the required training and skills will also be considered.
  • A valid group insurance license is an asset.
  • Bilingual capabilities, able to write and speak in English and French.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills in developing solutions for our clients;
  • Proven organization skills and the ability to effectively coordinate the delivery of projects and advisory services;
  • Strong technical expertise and the consistent record to remain current with respect to industry trends, provincial and federal legislative policies and changes;
  • Meticulous attention to detail, refined organizational skills and the ability to multi-task;
  • Proven ability to prioritize competing requirements and deadlines under pressure;
  • Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or related discipline. Completion of at least 2 SOA exams, and working towards completion of ACIA and ASA designation is preferred;
