Description:
The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) is seeking four Academic Pediatric Anesthesiologists to join their Department of Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. This is an academic clinical position requiring both clinical expertise and a strong research, educational, or administrative focus. The successful candidate will hold a full-time clinical academic appointment at the University of Toronto and must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide perioperative pediatric anesthesia services across various surgical specializations, including neurosurgery, thoracic, craniofacial, orthopedic/spine, and otorhinolaryngology.
- Deliver anesthesia care for diagnostic and interventional procedures such as radiology, GI, oncology, and burn injury management.
- Engage in education and training for medical students, residents, and fellows at the University of Toronto.
- Participate in Acute Pain Service, Pre-Anesthesia Clinic, Simulation, Sedation services, and Patient Safety initiatives.
- Lead or contribute to academic research projects, with access to world-class resources through the SickKids Research Institute.
- Take on administrative roles within the department and collaborate across multiple healthcare teams.
Candidate Requirements:
- MD (or equivalent) with advanced fellowship training in Pediatric Anesthesia.
- Eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
- Proficiency in English (strong communication skills required for patient care and collaboration).
- A defined academic plan with clear goals at 1, 3, and 5 years.
Remuneration:
- Competitive salary between $265,000 and $450,000 per year, plus an equal distribution of billing overages.
